Project Work
Project Summary

Project Goals

To accomplish these goals, the project has been working in the following four areas. The detailed status report gives an update on how each area has been implemented to date, and what remains to be done.

School-wide planning and community development
  • Work with the Planning Team to implement project goals and develop policies and infrastructure for the long-term support, coordination, and monitoring of technology efforts.
  • Maintain high project visibility within the schools and community.
  • Expand technology support roles and activities for students, parents, and community members as well as school personnel.
  • Support and nurture emerging technology and curriculum leadership across the three schools.
  • Comprehensive professional development opportunities
  • Provide intensive summer workshops to assist participants in developing plans for integrating technology into classroom and school life.
  • Provide on-site support for the implementation of these plans through additional staff: two educational technologists who are experts in the integration of technology and curriculum.
  • Provide multiple avenues for faculty and others to build and improve their knowledge of inquiry, curriculum, and technology activities including collaborative support groups, on-site classes, and electronic support.
  • Provide opportunities for follow-up, reflection, and planning through two annual in-service days shared among all school sites.
  • Increased access to technology and support
  • Increase the numbers of computers available within classrooms and throughout each school.
  • Develop a tool kit of basic software applications, install on all school computers, and ensure that all faculty become competent in the use of most or all applications.
  • Ensure that adequate technical support and maintenance is available to teachers and students in their use of the new technologies.
  • Ongoing project evaluation
  • Conduct an in-depth ethnographic study of the project with special emphasis on the ways technology comes to be integrated into classroom and school life and the impact this has on classroom learning and school culture. Use the formative findings to inform and improve the project as work moves forward.
  • Assist teachers to develop means of documenting and evaluating their technology integration efforts and assessing their students progress.
  • Provide widening circles of opportunity for members of the school community to participate in and learn from the research effort.
